Winter near Oslo · December to March
Olympic ski mountains, husky teams, a hotel built of snow and waterfalls frozen solid — all within about three hours of Oslo. Each one comes with what it costs, when it is on, and where to rent a cabin.

Before you go
Norwegian winter is dry cold, and the trick is layers you can add and remove.
Main roads are ploughed quickly, but the last stretch up to a cabin or ski resort is a mountain road.
No ice is ever guaranteed safe, and a forecast cannot tell you the thickness under your feet.
Northern lights? Honestly, not here. At Oslo’s latitude the aurora shows only on a handful of nights a year, low on the horizon — it is not something to plan a trip around. Prices and dates on these pages are indicative and carry the season they were published for; always confirm with the provider. Read the cabin rental guide.
