Christmas market · Akershus
Norway’s Christmas town: white wooden houses, a fjord and Santa’s post office.
Drøbak, 40 minutes down the fjord, calls itself Norway’s Christmas town. Its Christmas house sells decorations all year, but in December the wooden-house streets are lit, children hunt for Santa figures through the town centre and a farm market opens on the first weekend of Advent.
Why it is a winter thing: The decorated streets, the Santa hunt and the farm market run only in late November and December.
Late November to the end of December. In 2025 the farm market was on 29–30 November and the Santa hunt ran all December.
